Andrew Scheer Welcomes Hon. Chuck Strahl, P.C. as a National Campaign Chair
Andrew Scheer, candidate for leadership for the Conservative Party of Canada announced today that the Honourable Chuck Strahl, P.C. is joining the campaign as a national chair.
“Chuck has been a mentor to me personally throughout my political career,” said Scheer. “I am thrilled to have his support and his experience and knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to bring our message of real conservatism to Canadians.”
“I’ve watched Andrew Scheer in government, in opposition, and in the Speaker's chair. In every case, he has shown consistently good judgement,” said Strahl. “His thoughtful, genuinely conservative ideas for both the Party and the country make him the leader we need as we look to defeat the Liberals in 2019.”
After a successful career in the logging and road building business in his home province of BC, Mr. Strahl was elected in six consecutive elections, retiring in 2011. During that time, he served as Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs, and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure under Prime Minister Stephen Harper. He remains interested in policy development and current affairs, is a board member in both the corporate and not-for-profit sectors and continues to write and comment on political issues.
