MP David Anderson endorses Andrew Scheer for Conservative Leader
David Anderson, Member of Parliament for Cypress Hills-Grasslands today announced his support for Andrew Scheer as Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.
First elected in 2000 and re-elected in five subsequent elections, MP Anderson has served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources and for Agriculture and the Canadian Wheat Board, and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Consular.
David was a key member of the Conservative team that brought marketing freedom to Western Canadian farmers and presently serves as the Conservative Agriculture Critic.
David worked with fellow MP Bev Shipley to present and pass Motion 382, which unanimously declared the Parliament of Canada’s support for religious freedom around the world. David is a founding member of the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief.
“In 2004, I watched Andrew Scheer run in a riding that we had not been able to win. His personality and leadership inspired the people of Regina-Qu’Appelle to choose him as their MP. At each level since then, he has been successful. His colleagues recognized his leadership abilities by choosing him as the youngest Speaker in Canada’s Parliament. His work ethic, his strong principles and his ability to lead others make him the obvious choice for anyone who would like to see Conservatives form government in 2019.”
Andrew Scheer continues to lead the race with the most caucus support of any leadership candidate. MP Anderson joins 23 MPs, eight Senators, 30 MLAs and MPPs and 14 former MPs supporting Andrew Scheer for Leader of the Conservative Party.
