Ontario MPP Monte McNaughton endorses Andrew Scheer
Monte McNaughton, MPP for Lambton—Kent—Middlesex and former candidate for Ontario PC Leader today announced his support for Andrew Scheer as Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. McNaughton will serve as Ontario Chair for the Scheer campaign.
Monte McNaughton has been a principled voice for conservative values throughout his tenure as an MPP, and through his 2014 run for leader of the Ontario PC Party. McNaughton is a strong advocate for smaller government, lower taxes, for parents, and for families.
“I believe that conservatives of all stripes must stand together if we're going to win the next round of elections,” said McNaughton. “We need a Leader with real conservative principles to communicate a positive vision to the country. Andrew Scheer can do that. His Conservative values are rock-solid and I have every confidence in him to bring to the Conservative Party together and lead us to victory in 2019.”
“With support in the cities, towns, villages, and hamlets that make Ontario such a diverse collection of communities, I know we are bringing together all Conservatives as we move forward to 2019,” said Scheer. “Monte ran a principled leadership campaign, attracting thousands of new conservatives to join our cause. Monte knows Ontario and I am grateful not only for his endorsement but for his work on our team.”
With his endorsement, MPP McNaughton joins 24 MPs, eight Senators, 28 MLAs and nine former MPs supporting Andrew Scheer for Leader of the Conservative Party.
