Scheer criticizes Liberals restoring funding to UNRWA

Andrew Scheer, MP for Regina-Qu’Appelle and candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada reacted to the Liberal government’s funding of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA):

“UNRWA has a record of collusion with radical groups like Hamas and is not an effective way to distribute aid to the Palestinian people,” said Scheer. “Canadian money should not go to an organization that lets terrorists use its schools and hospitals as bases to attack Israel. Academic analysis has found that textbooks in UNRWA schools promote anti-semitic views.”

“Canadian aid funds should only go to groups that focus on aid, not politics. UNRWA is an obstacle to achieving peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As Prime Minister I would ensure aid went to organizations with a record of delivering results, not playing politics.”
