Scheer to O'Leary: "It's time to fish or cut bait"
Conservative leadership candidate Andrew Scheer called on Kevin O’Leary to enter the leadership race before January 17th, so he can participate in the Quebec City French language debate.
"If Kevin wants to run, it’s time to fish or cut bait", said Scheer. "It is not acceptable to stall or delay in order to avoid the French-language debate."
O’Leary has stated in the past that he was waiting for a number of candidates to drop out of the race before entering. The deadline for paying the additional fee to the party was December 31, 2016. Only one candidate withdrew from the race.
“It’s clear that Kevin is going to run,” Scheer said. “I believe that he owes it to all French speaking Conservatives to participate in the French language debate. I invite Kevin to come and join the debate in Quebec City.
“Quebec was the only province where the Conservative party increased its seat total in the last election. We have a tremendous opportunity to build our support here. It’s vitally important that every leadership candidate is in Quebec for the debate, speaking French and showcasing our Conservative principles.”
