WHEREAS Regina City Council’s Executive Committee has passed a motion that would restrict energy companies from sponsoring or advertising with the City of Regina;

WHEREAS if this motion were to be adopted by the City of Regina it would do absolutely nothing to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases;

WHEREAS many people in Regina work in, and many small businesses depend on, the oil and gas industry;

AND WHEREAS this motion is a hypocritical attack on the thousands of struggling workers in Regina and across Saskatchewan who depend on the oil and gas industry for their livelihoods;

THEREFORE, WE THE UNDERSIGNED call on all Regina city councilors to reject this motion when it is brought forward at the next meeting of the full Regina City Council.
