The Bank of Canada has one job. Its mandate is to keep inflation to 2%.
In July 2022, inflation hit 8.1%. That's the highest it has been in 40 years.
The Bank of Canada did not do its job, and yet it has handed out millions in bonuses and raises during the pandemic while hard-working Canadian families like yours struggle to pay their bills.
IT'S NOT RIGHT.
Add your name to the growing list of Canadians who say that
the Bank of Canada should pay taxpayers back for its pandemic bonuses and raises.
WHEREAS the Bank of Canada has handed out $45 million in pay raises and bonuses to its employees during the pandemic while hard-working Canadian families struggle to pay their bills; and
WHEREAS the Bank of Canada has failed to meet its mandated inflation target, allowing inflation to reach a 40-year high of 8.1%; therefore
WE THE UNDERSIGNED call on the Bank of Canada to pay taxpayers back the full cost of its pandemic bonuses and raises.
